Our Response To Covid-19
Our employees are working from home. We are still taking orders and still shipping garments!
In addition, we are using our sewing skills in 2 different ways:
1. Clergy Image Covid Emergency Sewing DONATE TO COVID EMERGENCY SEWING
2. Sewing gowns for Banner Health
COVID EMERGENCY SEWING
Cathie has been spending her time and creativity working with nurses to create a pattern for a comfortable mask that can be used alone or with an N95 to extend the life of the N95. They went through 6 different versions before deciding on our current pattern. It fits snugly around the nose and side and is long enough to go under your chin. It is also comfortable for all day wear and is quick and easy to make. We have organized a group of local volunteers to help create kits including patterns and supplies, deliver kits, sew masks and pick up finished masks.
When people began asking if they could make financial contributions to offset these costs, we set up a fund through St. Martin's-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church in Columbia, SC so your donation is tax deductible. Thanks Rev Caitlyn Darnell - it’s good to have clergy customers! But if you'd prefer to donate to Clergy Image directly - without a tax deduction - you can do that too.
This money will be used for out-of-pocket expenses for masks - mainly supplies, gas for drivers and shipping. We are committed to paying our employees their normal wages no matter what, so it is possible these funds may be also used for payroll for the hours employees work on items we are donating. The money will not fund overhead or normal business expenses.
We are touched and overwhelmed with the support we are receiving - financially, emotionally and the number of people wanting to help. Thank you!!
BANNER HEALTH GOWNS
We are also working with a hospital group. Cathie has designed a gown that is easy to make, wear and get on and off. Linda has sourced fabric and it is rolling. As a small company, we can only supply a portion of what they need, so we are also enlisting other sewing companies. This will not only increase the number of gowns that can be made weekly, it also provides jobs for sewers whose companies have had to temporarily close their shops. Our goal is over 10,000 gowns per month!
As things move forward, we will continue to update you on Clergy Image in the time of Coronavirus.
